Gustavo Jorge is originally from the gorgeous city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At a young age he moved to Nova Friburgo, a city surrounded by mountains about a two-hour drive north of Rio. In Friburgo he molded his personality, and his love for sports and fitness. Among his favorites were weight-lifting, hiking, biking, soccer, swimming and the Brazilian martial arts of Capoeira, and Jiu-Jitsu. In personal fitness he truly found his calling. He has evolved as an athlete, and since moving to the United States, Gustavo brought his life experience into his personal training career. His decades into sports have created a professional with an all-around understanding of the body.
Gustavo thinks that the skills and understanding he acquires from practicing sports are very unique. He knows that sports have taught him knowledge that no University could ever teach him.

Over two and a half years ago I began weekly training with Gustavo Jorge. He has made a significant impact on my life; not only in my physical well-being but also in my own sense of self-worth and accomplishment. He is sensitive to my goals and encourages me every step along the way. His temperament and training technique epitomizes the concept of “a healthy mind in a healthy body.” He is extremely knowledgeable about his craft and is able to address both general and specific issues. The environment at Balance, created by Gustavo and his colleagues, is conducive to a productive, helpful, and successful training session. Gustavo and all those who work at Balance are a first-class act! – Trevor Cramer
I’ve been training with Gustavo for two years and my health has improved greatly. I’ve lost 20 lbs and blood sugar is no longer high. He is first of all a super nice guy, always upbeat and positive, and he stays focused on the work, counting reps and quickly preparing the next set. I do a half hour of cardio before each session and try to make it 4 times weekly because of how good I feel afterward and because my strength, endurance and weight have all improved dramatically. – Dan Denton
